companies require a diagnosis in order to be covered.\u00a0 You may not meet the criteria for a diagnosis.\u00a0 You may also not want employees of insurance companies to view your personal information or diagnosis.\u00a0 In addition, a diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record and could possibly affect you when applying for life insurance or long\/short term disability.<\/li><li>Often health insurance companies choose your therapist for you.\u00a0 I believe you should be able to choose the therapist that you feel most comfortable with, not who the insurance company chooses to cover.<\/li><li>Health insurance companies decide how many sessions they will cover.\u00a0 With private pay you are in charge of the length and frequency of your
